Jack Bailey grew up near Watertown, New York and served in the US Navy During World War II as a crewman on a Landing Ship, Tank (LST). While supporting Allied Landings in the Mediterranean , Jack's LST was was heavily damaged when the ship next to his was attacked by German bombers. During the explosion, he was knocked unconscious and thrown into the water. He was rescued and spent the rest of his life with debilitating seizures. Despite his injuries, Jack Bailey married after the war and raised a family. Jacks son, John Bailey later served two tours in Vietnam with the Americal Division (23rd Infantry Division).
